Sun Company Altimeter 202
This Sun Company Altimeter 202 is made for backpacking or any outdoor use. Take it with you on your next adventure or wherever it is needed.
In any emergency situation, this product from Sun Company will give you some valuable information you need.
The analog design includes a weather trend indicator, keeping you aware of storms building at high altitudes. Includes a lanyard and leather case with belt loop.
There is a leather case and lanyard included to store the altimeter.
Some altimeters that use batteries can have a hard time working in colder extreme weather but this altimeter is battery-free and very high quality (made in Japan).
The dial is adjustable so you must first set the proper altitude before it will give you accurate readings.
For the barometer you simply set it to in between the “rainy” and “fine” setting to the orange line. When weather fluctuations happen then it will give you a heads up on coming weather. Barometric pressure is measured in inches of Mercury (Hg) or hectoPascals (hPa).
When you see readings between ~29.6 – 30.2 this is considered a normal barometric pressure range. There are great simple instructions included with the product.
It is very light (weight: 1.4 oz) and great to wear or have in your pocket. Dimensions are 2.3 x 2.3 x 1 inches.
The Sun Company has gone the extra step to make a very reliable and well-built product.
George C. says: “I’ve had one of these mounted on my Harley Davidson Fat Bob motorcycle for over 6 years and 67,000 miles – the ultimate shake test! Through rain, snow, heat, and dust. Still works like new, and tracks altitude reliably and accurately as judged by occasional checks against roadside altitude signs and GPS. A bargain!“
Sun Company ArmArmour 1 – Wrist Compass
A compass is a life-saving tool, and the Sun Company ArmArmour 1 is no exception.
Though there are many ways to try and detect direction in the wild, nothing beats having an accurate compass.
Your sense of direction is always at hand when you strap on the ArmArmour 1 Wrist Compass.
This is one of my favourite products done by Sun Company, it is such a great quality smaller compass in a durable housing (rugged ABS housing), and I love the idea of having it on your wrist when you hike or need to navigate in any situation.
It has an illuminated bright-green navigation so if you are trying to find your way through a forest at night Sun Company has you covered.
This wrist compass felt very comfortable on my adult arm and it fit great on my young son’s arm also with the tactical strap. This is a great tool for a child to start to learn how to read a compass and navigate with it.
It feels very light, it comes in at 1.28 oz weight having dimensions of 10.7 x 0.7 x 1.5 inches.
ArmArmour’s hinged cover keeps the compass protected and helps to prevent glare, making it easy to read.
This compass is one of those necessary accessories for activities like hiking, camping, backpacking, fishing, hunting, and so many more!
The strap is 22m wide, it is available in black or black/grey stripes. It comes with a 27mm Grade A liquid-filled compass that is easily read in low light.
Good compasses have a fluid-filled housing; the fluid dampens the motion of the needle so that you can use the compass without holding it perfectly still.
Sun Company ArmArmour 2 – Wrist Thermometer
Having an accurate temperature is another valuable piece of information you need in many situations. Sun Company delivers a very durable well-built product.
Strap on the ArmArmour 2 Wrist Thermometer to prepare for any temperature. This wrist thermometer also has a durable tactical strap that fits both adults and children.
This easy-to-read thermometer reads to -20º Fahrenheit or -30º Celsius. It’s super child-friendly and a great way to get your kids to tell you the temperature constantly 🙂
The hardware on the tactical straps is made from brushed stainless steel for a sleek look and durability.
This item is very light (1.28 oz) and the dimensions are 10.7 x 0.7 x 1.5 inches.
The accurate dial thermometer is made in Japan (one of the leading producers of top-quality dial instruments like this one).
There are lots of applications where this could be a very handy item to have strapped to your wrist.
As prepper’s in a grid-down scenario items that do not require batteries are essential and extremely valuable.
Bonus: Sun Company TripleWhistle (Whistle/ Compass/ Dial Thermometer)
This is a must-have multi-tool for any prepper. The utilities of a whistle are many. Having a compass and thermometer is invaluable.
If you are on a tight budget this Triple Whistle is beyond essential to have for your bug-out bag or person at all times.
Three outdoor essentials in one: whistle, compass, and thermometer. The compass is luminous and liquid-filled.
The thermometer reads from -20º to +120º Fahrenheit. The whistle includes a convenient 17″ lanyard.
The whistle has a cork ball in it which when you blow it creates vibrations within the pitch, making the thrilling sound you associate with a quality whistle blast.
This product was a kid-favourite also, who doesn’t love blowing a whistle!
Concluding Thoughts on Sun Company
Sun Company started in 1971 with humble beginnings but with a passion for creating quality outdoor products.
Traditionally a retail-only brand, Sun Company begins to embrace the “direct-to-consumer” movement with a full rebrand in the 2010s.
I love that Sun Company is a family business, family-owned and operated. The products are simple but perfected over many years of use and development. They have stuck to what they are passionate about and did not broaden their products.
